English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

CRIS offers English language classroom instruction for adults in nine community
locations – all chosen for their convenience for refugees and immigrants.
Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available.
Classes are taught by qualified native speakers of English and often with
assistance from volunteer Classroom Aides. To inquire about becoming
Classroom Aide, please contact Mike McCaman (mmccaman@cris-ohio.com) or

To be eligible to enroll, a person must be one of the following:
- a refugee who entered the United States within the past five years
- an asylee who was granted asylum in the US within the past five years
- part of a household with children under the age of 18 living at home –
and that is income-eligible under TANF guidelines
- a pregnant woman income-eligible under TANF guidelines
