Parenting Classes

CRIS provides classes for French-, Somali- and Spanish-speaking
families for the purpose of developing positive parenting skills.
Classes are held in participants’ homes and community locations,
and deliver 18 hours of instruction to parents using the respected
“Nurturing Parenting” curriculum which has been in use since 1979.

CRIS offers first-language services to participants to help them:
  • develop and practice positive parenting behaviors
  • understand American parenting norms and US law as it relates to child rearing
  • eliminate stress factors influencing the risk for child abuse
  • develop protective factors that help prevent child abuse
